Recently I received an email from a friend and it started with the following quote:
“It’s a terrible thing in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There’s almost no such thing as ready. There’s only now. And you may as well do it now.” –Hugh Laurie
It certainly resonates with me. Born in Hong Kong and being sent to boarding school in Perth, Western Australia, it was a huge cultural change. I was a kid and I was very excited when I first got there. Everything was new and different. My curiosity, naivety and adventurous nature worked on my side. I was too young to question whether I was ready for such a big change. When the excitement wore off, I learnt how not ready I was; but I was thankful that I had that experience for it made me the person I am now. I am adaptable to change and constantly look for improvement. I cannot handle routine and repetitive stuff.
So, what is it got to do with online marketing entrepreneurship?
The digital highway is growing at an exponential rate. If you want to leverage on the digital economy to obtain your financial freedom, act now! Do not wait until you are “ready”. You will never be ready. There is always something else – the family, the mortgage, the day job! For a long time, that was me! But, it is not anymore!
I’m not any braver or making big sacrifices. I have simply set better priorities. This is how I did it.
I sat down and wrote down what I normally do every day, from the time I get up in the morning to the time I go to bed. What I discovered was that I filled my days with activities which were not priorities or contribute to my visions. Some were activities just to fill in time or being busy for busy sake! For example, following a reality TV show; reading a novel; “window” shopping; surfing the internet, facebook or reading emails etc. I have stopped all those activities and I found almost 20 hours a week to work on my online marketing business!
I have joined this company for nearly 5 months ago and I hit the ground running almost immediately. Don’t get me wrong. It required a lot of hard work to set up in the beginning but I did not wait until I was ready and I have never looked back!
